RAPID-DOSE – AND WE MEAN RAPID!
Ask any professional installer the key requirement of any new product they are asked to use and they’ll all say the same thing – ease of use! No one wants a wonderful new product that takes ages to get to grips with and which has the potential for causing major mess - especially in the water treatment area.
Rob Keayes from Hewer Facilities Management is no different. He hates fiddly jobs as much as the next man. So when his contact at his local merchant – Mike Scott at Shoreheat – told him about the new Rapid Dose product from Sentinel that would be arriving shortly, he was very interested, if a little cynical. A new product that was mess free that you could discharge into a system without draining it down and be away from a job in minutes? Surely that’s too good to be true?
Rapid-Dose duly arrived and Rob took a closer look. His company Hewer FM, employs around sixty engineers and works for a wide range of customers predominantly in the Cheltenham and Gloucester area with some customers as far south as Bristol and others north into the Tewkesbury and Worcester areas. They include housing associations, private individuals, insurance companies and they have their own boiler breakdown service. He began using Rapid-Dose to see if it was as good as he’d been told and to his amazement it seemed to be. In particular, he was drawn to the Rapid-Dose leak sealer product. Often he was called to new build installation problems, where weeping pipes were the problem, often through walls between rooms, and he found that rather than ripping out walls and causing damage that needed to be rectified, using the Rapid-Dose leak sealer did the trick.
Over to Rob for a run down: “I’ve always used Sentinel products so when Rapid-Dose came on the scene I was willing to give it a go. I had one job where I knew there was an easily accessible filling loop on the boiler and I decided to measure exactly how rapid Rapid-Dose was. From the moment I left my van, got into the property, used the product and got back in the van was four and a half minutes! I’m not saying every job can be done that quickly, but that was pretty impressive! I reckon the product allows you to do many of the jobs you need to do in around ten minutes. I’ve used the leak sealer extensively, and the inhibitor and cleaner occasionally and I’ve been impressed with them all. It really is so simple to use.”
Rapid –Dose – the low down:
Sentinel Rapid-Dose is a revolutionary approach to domestic water treatment utilising a new dosing system to make water treatment easier and less expensive. It comes in a recyclable, pressurised canister pre-filled with Sentinel chemical water treatment product – the familiar X100 central heating inhibitor and protector, X200 noise reducer, X400 system sludge remover and cleaner and the popular and highly effective Leak Sealer. It can be used to dose any indirect central heating system in seconds.
Rapid-Dose’s novel system is designed to make the addition of water treatment chemicals quick and easy, soon restoring system efficiency to older systems and maintaining the efficiency of new ones, minimising CO2 emissions in the process.
Importantly, unlike other products available, contents of a Sentinel Rapid-Dose canister whilst under pressure use a propellant that is simply compressed air – not a flammable propellant that a competitor product rather alarmingly uses - so no ‘nasties’ are emitted when the canister is activated - the contents are discharged in, on average around thirty seconds and one 400ml can is sufficient to dose a typical domestic heating system.
In addition, there’s no need to draw off water, release system pressure – unless the system is at above 2.3 bar – or wait for the system to cool - and the contents are the same fully proven Sentinel formulations installers have been working with previously in the liquid or concentrate form of the product, so you can be confident that Sentinel Rapid-Dose will do the job effectively.
To apply Sentinel Rapid-Dose into a heating system, you simply need one of the easy-to-use re-usable connector kits available from your merchant – a Filling Loop Adaptor, a Radiator Dosing Point kit - which last year won the CORGI Awards 2008 Installers Mate award - or a Vent Pin Adaptor Set. You can also purchase a Universal Dosing Tool Kit that includes all the options.
